I think it goes without saying that the Season 4, Episode 2 “Heroes & Villains” was comic gold on Monday night, and that’s not just because of the superhero killer. With hilarious scenes from awkward pants dropping to epic puns, and it was tough to narrow it down to just ten!
10. Beckett preordered Deadly Storm
Poor Kate, try as she may to hide it, her closet Castle fangirl side is revealed once again at the comic book store, with Castle right there to find out, naturally.
9. “Well you shouldn’t have done that!“
Captain Gates is none too happy with Beckett after her preemptive notification to the mayor that they found the killer goes awry. Open mouth, insert foot, Kate!
8. “I was doing yoga, Castle.”
When Castle comes upon a hot, sweaty, out-of-breath Beckett answering the door to her apartment, it’s obvious his mind initially went straight to the gutter.
7. The Red Maroon video
Played on Castle’s iPhone, the Red Maroon not only gets, to quote Beckett, his “ass kicked” by a purse snatcher, he’s then beaten by the elderly victim’s umbrella afterward. Reference to Marvel comic book hero “Kick-Ass”? Most likely!
6. Ryan tries his hand at Castle-esque theory
Here we have a bemused Kate Beckett watching her boys theorize in Castle’s infamous storytelling style, but with Castle declaring Ryan’s theory wasn’t well thought out enough like the master’s are, to which Beckett humorously replies, “Since when?”
5. Martha’s Shakespeare costumes
First we get Martha dressed as a nun, and then find her with a beard. Oh, and she also apparently refused to make Castle an ET costume…when he was 32.
4. Castle’s puns for Tyler Farris being split in two
“Half the man he used to be”, “Split Personality”, “Two half men”? Brilliant!
3. Tyler Faris’ mother
Who replies “Don’t sweat it” when their son is cleaved in two by a samurai sword?! Mrs. Faris, that’s who! Her nonchalant manner of speaking when discussing her son’s bizarre demise is nothing short of hilarious. And let’s not forget, “You’re gonna need a bigger pad!”
2. Tony the Butcher dropping his pants in the interrogation room.
It’s not often that we see Kate Beckett feeling extremely awkward and uncomfortable, and even more rare to see her unable to even look at a suspect! Castle, on the other hand, was all too interested in Tony’s L-shaped bum lashing!
1. “Wait, is that…?” “No, I can’t be..” “It is!” “Our killer is a superhero!”
This one really speaks for itself! Especially with the gleeful look on Castle’s face!
So there you have it, the top ten. Do you agree? What were your favorite scenes from Heroes & Villains?
