Whether your neighborhood is too spread out or isn’t all that kid-friendly, or you just would rather go somewhere else and try something a little different for trick or treating, you might want to try something called “Trunk or Treat.” Trunk or treat is similar to trick or treat, but instead of walking from house to house in a neighborhood and knocking on doors, you walk from trunk to trunk of parked cars and get your treats. Often held at churches, these events are usually done by people that you can be relatively certain you can trust, which is different from neighborhood trick or treating.
If you want to try it, here’s 4 places in Ocala and Marion County that are having Trunk or Treat events for Halloween this year:
The Salvation Army: 2901 NE 14th St in Ocala. Trunk or Treat will begin at 6pm on 10/31.
Forest Public Library: 905 S County Rd 314A in Ocklawaha. Trunk or Treat will take place at 6pm on 10/31.
First Baptist Church of Ocala: 2801 SE Maricamp Rd in Ocala. Trunk or Treat begins at 6pm on 10/31.
Maplewood Elementary: 4751 SE 24th St in Ocala. Maplewood’s event is designed to encourage handicapped children, children with autism or learning disabilities to come to a safe, comfortable location to trick or treat. Called “Safe Halloween”, they will have Trick or Treat cards for $2, and food, a hayride and maze all for $1 each. Safe Halloween is from 5pm to 7pm on 10/31.
