UCLA Women’s Golf Team began the 2011 fall season in the same way as they ended the 2011 Spring Season. Not only did they come out on top of a big tournament, but they did it in dominate fashion. After falling behind by a few strokes in the second to last round, UCLA came out strong in the final round in route to a six shot victory at the Golf Week Fall Preview.
UCLA’s biggest strength is their depth. While most teams provide great players in their top one or two spots, UCLA carries several of the best women’s college players down to their sixth and seventh spot. Junior Tiffany Lua said about this Bruin team: “I think other schools have like a 1-, 2-, 3-punch, but I think we have a 7-punch.” UCLA’s Women, who began the new season ranked number one, not only lived up to the hype, but made some coaches think UCLA may not lose in event all season.
