Brrr! It’s getting cold out there, folks. But don’t let that stop you from getting out for some fitness and fun. Though the number of outdoor events obviously begins to dwindle at this time of year, there’s still plenty to do. Here’s a look at some upcoming Treasure Valley fitness events for November.
Halloween Fun Run October 29 Boise. OK, this one’s in October, and in fact, it’s tomorrow, but what a fun event. 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk. Benefiting Salvation Army’s Project Share Program, this is a costume fun run/event located around Hobble Creek Park and the surrounding neighborhood. For more information, click on this link.
Zeitgeist Half Marathon November 5 Boise. The race is open to walkers and runners. The loop course starts and finishes in the Optimist Football Park northwest of Boise, and includes paved and dirt roads with 1,181 feet of elevation gain over three hills. For more information, click on this link.
World Run Day November 6. Like running? This is not so much an organized race as a virtual event celebrating the sport of running worldwide and promote charitable giving. Doing something healthy and helping a good cause? Sounds like a good idea. For more information, click on this link.
YMCA Healthy Holiday Challenge November 7 through December 30. Battle those holiday calories with this 8-week challenge. Great for businesses and their employees. Small challenges encourage individuals to take a proactive approach when dealing with holiday stress and excess calories. For more information, click on this link.
Urban Adventure Bethine Church River Trail November 6. Join the Sierra Club for an easy 3 mile pet friendly hike along the Boise River. This is a good area for observing wildlife too. Shine Night 5K November 11 Eagle. This is a family friendly, nighttime fun run, with strollers welcome. Come to the race aglow and participate in the SHINE Contest. Since the race is on Veteran’s Day, you can honor our heroes. Patriotic bling earns bonus points in the SHINE Contest. Proceeds benefit Race for the Nations. For more information, click on this link.
Turkey Trot Relay November 19 Boise. In this annual race for 4-person relay teams, each person completes a 2-mile loop through Ann Morrison Park. The team closest to their predicted time wins a turkey for each team member. Divisions include Gobblers (men), Hens (women), Co-Ed, Masters (all members age 40 and older), Jennys and Jakes (girls and boys 16 and younger), and Family (all members must be related).
