Friday night will be an exciting night of incredible R&B music at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. This is a night you will not want to miss as the following artists will be lighting up the stage: Blackstreet, Tank, Michel’le, Ginuwine, K-Ci & Jojo and Latrice!
Blackstreet, an R&B group, hit the scene strong with the debut of their first album, Blackstreet, in 1993 which was a platinum-selling success and featured two Top 40 hits. Striving for even more, their second album was a breakthrough success as their single “No Diggity” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, won them a Grammy Award in 1998, went four times platinum in the US and peaked at #3 on the Billboard chart. Although they broke up shortly after the release of their 3rd album, they reunited in 2003 and released their fourth album, Level II.
Four-time Grammy-nominee Tank will also be performing at Nokia Theatre Friday night. Having released four albums over the course of the past decade, Tank has worked with some of today’s hottest artists including Chris Brown, Drake, Letoya Luckett and Jamie Foxx, to name a few.
Ginuwine, one of R&B’s top artists during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s is sure to put on an amazing performance. Having released numerous multi-platinum and platinum-selling albums and singles he has been nominated for various AMA’s, BET, and Soul Train Music Awards. Over the years he has reordered seven albums with his most recent released in 2011.
Yet another sensational R&B artist, Michel’le, will be lighting up Nokia Theatre. Known for her strong vocal voice, she has released two studio albums with speculation of a third album in process. Michel’le’s single “No More Lies” landed at the #7 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 2001 with the entire album, entitled Michel’le, peaking at #5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #35 on the Billboard 200 chart.
K-Ci & Jojoare the epitome of a dynamic-duo. Their first album, Love Always and Life, was released in 1997 and spawned two top-ten R&B hits. Striving for more, the brothers second album, It’s Real, was released in 1999 and was certified platinum as well as peaking at #8 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums. The album featured four singles including the #2 Billboard song “Tell me It’s Real.” Since then they have released three more albums! .K-CI & Jojoare the recipient of the American Music Awards Favorite R&B Band/Duo/Group in 1999 and additionally, have been nominated for various Grammy, MTV Video Music, NAACP and Soul Train Awards.
