September 15, 2011 — The highly awaited ‘Vampire Diaries’ season premiere aired on the CW Thursday night, and things couldn’t be more different than from when the series started.
Stefan, who has reverted back to his evil ways, is the opposite of Damon, who has become Elena’s go to guy in the absence of her vampire boyfriend. However, Elena, who is the object of both Salvatore brother’s affections hasn’t forgotten about Stefan, and holds out hope that he’s alive.
Damon has been tracking his little brother, who is running with vampire-werewolf hybrid, Klaus, and knows that Stefan has flipped the switch from good to evil. However, it isn’t until Stefan returns to send his brother a message by killing his girlfriend, that Damon realizes how bad he’s truly become.
Caroline and Tyler are closer friends than ever, and Matt doesn’t like it. Although he and Caroline are no longer together, he’s not happy that the couple seem to be into each other. As Caroline throws a party for Elena’s 18th birthday she begins to realize just how much she cares about Tyler.
The pair finally kiss, and head back to Tyler’s house. As Caroline attempts to sneak out of Tyler’s home she’s confronted by his mother, who then shoots her with darts. Tyler knows nothing of this, as he’s fast asleep in his bedroom.
Jeremy is haunted by ghosts of girlfriends past. Both Vicki and Anna are coming to him, although he’s not sure why yet. However, he is freaked out by the visions, and doesn’t know what to make out of them.
Alaric, who has been staying with the Gilbert siblings after the death of Jenna, gets nervous when he realizes that Jeremy and Elena have been depending on him. He later decides to move out of the Gilbert house, telling Elena that she can take care of things now that she’s 18-years-old.
In the end, Damon tells Elena that Stefan is evil, and never coming back. Shocked, Elena still doesn’t want to give up hope. Upon hearing some frightening words from Klaus, Stefan sneaks out to call Elena, who answers, and tells her silent boyfriend that she’s still in love with him. Fans see a hint of the old Stefan, but will he stick around, or will Damon swoop in first?
Cleveland fans can catch the second episode of season 3 next Thursday at local WBNX. What did you think of the ‘Vampire Diaries’ season premiere?
