Veolia Transportation has launched an interim website, www.libusinfo.com, designed to provide updates and important information on the transition to Nassau County and Veolia assuming responsibility for operating Long Island Bus beginning January 1, 2012. A more comprehensive permanent website is expected to be introduced in early 2012.
The interim website contains information for passengers, Nassau County residents, and current Long Island Bus employees, including information on career opportunities with Veolia and links to application forms as well as instructions for applying to work at the Nassau bus system. Information for riders on routes and schedules will also be available on the site. The site provides an opportunity for visitors to provide input or ask questions, as well as links to other important information.
Starting January 1, 2012, Veolia will have day-to-day responsibility for running the system and will provide strategic recommendations to Nassau County on operating the system; Nassau County will retain oversight in critical areas such as setting fares and service levels, and will continue to own all bus system assets, including busses, terminals, depots and equipment.
