A Look Into Next Week: Coldest airmass for the season possibly here in Chicago; snow not out of the question across parts of the Great Lakes
All Hazards NOAA Weather Radio | Live Chicago Weather Updates
Our 10 day streak of unseasonably warm weather that included 5 days of 80+ degree weather and 12 days of no measurable rainfall has come to an end. Our average high temperature over the first 12 days of the month has averaged out to be 11.5 degrees warmer than normal and our average temperature (which is the average of both our highs and lows) came out to be 9.8 degrees above normal. Today will likely be our first sub 70 degree day since October 3rd and possibly our coolest reading since the month’s opening day of 56 degrees.
Extensive cloudiness and showers will bring temperatures back down to near seasonable levels today. A cold front associated with the clouds and showers will pass over the area this evening. Once this happens, temperatures will begin to fall and winds will turn out of the north. Isobars will become tightly packed over the region due to a strengthening area of low pressure over southern Wisconsin. This indicates strong winds developing later tonight, tomorrow, and possibly into Saturday. Wind gust could top 40 mph in some places. Low temperatures tonight will fall into the 40s with highs on Friday barely making it out of the 50s. This weekend temperatures moderate back into the 60s before another storm system that could bring behind it some of the coolest weather this season affects the region next week.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with clusters of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Becoming windy with temperatures falling in the second half of the day. Highs in the mid 60s. Rain coverage 90%. Thunderstorm coverage 20-30%.
Friday: Decreasing cloudiness, noticeably cool, and windy. Highs near 60 degrees.
Saturday: Mostly sunny and slightly warmer. Clouds increase late. Highs in the lower to mid-60s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy and warmer. Chance for showers. Highs in the mid-60s to near 70 degrees.
Monday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the lower to mid-60s.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a chance for showers. Highs in the mid to upper 50s.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy and cool with a chance for showers. Highs in the mid 50s.
