I am a lip gloss lover and Wet n Wild Megaslicks lip glosses have been out for a while now. I have been seeing them in all my local drugstores, but never had the chance to get one, until now. Where I live at, there are not that many color selections available, as I have seen on the website. If you are looking for lip gloss that has a color payoff of a lipstick, then keep reading.
I had a chance to buy four of these lip glosses at my local Walgreens, due to the sale that they were having. These lip glosses normally run $1.99 each, but with the sale they were having, they were $.99 each. What a great buy! The colors that I bought were, 563B-Sun Glaze, which is like a nudish beige color, 568-Bronze Berry, which is a mauve color, 576A-Rose Gold, looks identical to Bronze Berry, but a little lighter, and 578-Sinless, which is like a strawberry pinky color. There are two colors I wish I never bought and you will find out later in this review, but let’s continue on.
These lip glosses contain ingredients such as, mineral oil, castor seed oil and beeswax, which is very moisturizing to the lips. The texture of these glosses are very thick, so you do not have to worry about that runny constency of it. The color payoff is amazing! It deposits color on your lips just as a lipstick would, but with a glossier look. They glide on your lips like velvet and just makes your lips very smooth and soft! There is a slight smell to it, but I cannot describe it. It smells really good though!
I had a chance to test Bronze Berry out by wearing it for a couple of hours to see if it was long lasting. I have to say for being on the go for a couple of hours and not able to touch up my lip gloss, it held out pretty well. The next day, I tried out Rose Gold, same result. Okay, now here comes Sun Glaze and Sinless. There is a problem.
Sun Glaze and Sinless, on my complexion, was too light. The only way I could tone the color down is one, pair it up with a lip liner, which is very rare for me, and two, apply just a dab of it to the center of my lips. I found doing it that way made it look like I had a glow to my lips, which was much better than just applying it alone. But still, it took some work to get it to the color result I wanted. Another reason I was disappointed was because those two colors looked so pretty in the tube and swatched on the back on my hand, but when applying it to my lips, the colors were very milky looking and it was not a good look.
Great staying power
Pretty color selection
Color payoff resembles just like a lipstick
Smells really good
Since it does have a lipstick color payoff, sheer lip gloss wearers, beware
Some of the colors were too opaque for my complexion
Overall, would I buy these again? Yes, I would, but just not Sun Glaze or Sinless. Those two would be a no for me. Bronze Berry and Rose Gold will always be a staple in my lip gloss collection!
Side note: I also need to venture out to other drugstores to find more colors as they were not a lot of colors to pick out when I went to my local Walgreens.
