Things certainly get passionate on Dancing With the Stars (airing on channel 15 in Scottsdale), and Monday night was no exception. Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have struggled this season to hit the mark with the judges and find consistency. Last week Hope was frustrated by the judge’s comments, and this week Maks blew his top a bit. What did Maksim say to the judges, and was it fair criticism?
Hope and Maks did a rumba Monday night on DWTS that left the judges feeling disappointed. This isn’t the first week that Hope Solo has come under fire for missing the mark, and apparently Maksim thought it was time to speak-up. When Len made a comment that he knows what he’s talking about since he’s been in this business for 50 years. Maks quipped “Maybe it’s time to get out,” and Carrie Ann and Bruno both pounced on Maks for being disrespectful. Maks then said he was angry about the judge’s “little judgmental comments,” and Bruno tried to shift the conversation back on-track.
Maks wasn’t done yet, however. The pair joined Brooke backstage, and he decided he had more to say. They watched the scores come in – a 7 from Carrie Ann, a 6 from Len and a 7 from Bruno, and Maks was visibly frustrated. He then said,
“With all due respect, this is my show. I helped make it what it is. I love every aspect of it, I love every professional that’s ever been here, and I love every celebrity that puts effort into every week. Having said that, I’m a little tired that we’re being judged some on effort, and some being picked on for heel leads.”
What do you think of what Maks had to say? To a degree, fans can certainly see his point. Were Hope and Maks really only one point better than Chaz and Lacey this week? Have they been held to a higher standard than some of the other pairs this season? Maks has been known for his willingness to say what he thinks for several seasons now, and this isn’t the first time he got fired up with the judges. He has already been angry about Chynna and Tony’s early elimination this season, and of course fans remember his thoughts about his season with Brandy when they didn’t win.
On the other hand, it tends to rub people the wrong way when celebrities or dance pros are disrespectful to the judges. Has Maksim pushed it too far this time? Or do you love his fiery Russian side? Do you think Hope has been judged unfairly this season? This team is definitely at risk this week, and they are hoping their fans will vote to keep them dancing. Tune in to Dancing With the Stars Tuesday at 8 p.m. to see if Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Hope Solo are safe again this week.
