$500 for a handbag? $200 pair of boots? In this economy most of us are watching just how much we are spending on ourselves. We check out all the discount retailers, check for online sales, and keep an eye out for clearence deals. While these are all great options to saving money and who doesn’t like to save some cash, are you really getting a good deal? The truth is in the fashion world you pretty much get what you pay for. $20 shoes don’t last very long, a couple of months tops. A $30 plastic handbag will last you about 3 weeks before starting to show some serious wear and tear. So when should you spend hard earned money and on what? Anything you wear or use on a consistant daily basis should be of good lasting quality. If you are a handbag lover like I am and you will notice I mention handbags in almost everything I write, then you like to buy a new one about every 3 or so months. I have all different qualities of handbags based on what I use them for. Everyday bags are high quality and name brand. The ones that I only use for specific outfits or outings are slightly lower in quality. Paying $300 for a handbag I use everyday really isn’t that much of a splurge. Higher quality means it will last longer. Some companies have a warrenty on thier bags such as if something tears or the hardware breaks you simply send it back to them and they will fix it for you and send it back. Bottom line is that higher end bags will last you years as opposed to months with lower end bags.
Shoes are a passion for some and just another item of clothing for others. I my self am not a huge shoe shopper. I like to find a few pairs that I can wear everyday to work and not have my feet hurt. Some people have so many shoes that they have found themselves building extra space just to house thier shoes. So when should you spend a paycheck on a pair of pumps, boots,or sneakers? Well that all depends on you. If you hit the gym 5 days a week or you like a little jog to start off your day then sneakers are going to be your splurge. If you work in an office and love to wear pumps chances are your going to want to invest in some fancy heels. It all depends on your daily grind I suppose. For me I practically live in boots during Fall and Winter months. There are plenty of shoe outlets out there that carry name brand shoes for a fraction of the price. My advice is don’t skimp on quality to save a buck.
