Lately, I don’t have the time to shop. There may be a certain piece that I am on the hunt for, and I can’t seem to place the location of it. It is usually a piece that will help to compliment the uniqueness of my wardrobe. These types of pieces are usually a challenge to find, and they tend to be in the most unlikely of places.
I can remember when I was looking for a pair of brown linen spectators to complete the look of a brown suit. The spectators were outdated, and not in the current trendy mix of fashion offered in fine haberdasheries. After searching high and low from city to city while on various vacations, it was apparent to me that they were not to be found. Because my style is timeless and classic with a splash of color thrown in here and there, it is important that I establish a relationship with the fine men’s clothing stores in my area. I contacted one of my frequented shopping holes, and asked where I could possibly find the seemingly extinct addition to my wardrobe. The shop owner suggested that I look online. Of course, with all of the internett crime, I was reluctant to start shopping online.
I continued to look. I searched for vintage stores in every state and called to see if they offered such a shoe. Some of the stores explained to me that their stock was scarce, and it was solely based on whatever was brought in for consigning. One of the shop owners I called, expressed to me that he would look for his hard finds online. The suggestion to shop online was made to me once again. I finally mustered up the courage, opened a separate checking account with a debit card attached, and created a PayPal account. The experience was remarkable! The internet shopping opened up a whole new world to me, and it was quite easy. I visited sites like Ebay, several online catalogs, Amazon, Overstock, and many more. On Ebay, I was able to type in “men’s spectators” and a world of spectators were found. There were spectators in England, America, and other parts of the world! I was in heaven! My online endeavors proved promising. A few clicks and there they were! The spectators I had longed for! After a couple of days, I was able to know that my spectators were on their way from Jermyn Street in London, England. The cost with shipping included was under $50!
My point in this article if you haven’t caught it, is that online shopping is a great way to save time, find what you are looking for, and possibly save money. By shopping online, you can create a whole new avenue of fashion choices and selections. I would not be able to afford the trip to Jermyn Street in London, England just to purchase a pair of shoes, but the online world has made it possible. It obviously does not beat the actual trip, but it sure is a good substitution until I get to make the trip!
