–Former NWA Champion Barry Windham has been hospitalized after having a massive heart attack. According to early reports he had suffered a stroke but the heart attack was later confirmed by family members. Windham is said to be in a Florida hospital in intensive care and at one time was said to be near death.
–Florida wrestling mainstay Killer Karl Kox had a heart attack last weekend and he is in the hospital in serious condition. Kox had blocked arteries and had surgery to install a pacemaker and as of the 25th he is alert and out of danger.
–Bobby Roode won the Impact Wrestling title from James Storm which, if you read this column, you would have already known that was going to happen. That leads to another PPV match between Roode and Angle tough…
–From the “it is Eric Bischoff so who cares” news department, his wife wrote a book no one will read and he is in development for a show on Nickelodeon that will star Scott Baio. Seriously?
–I received an email from Jason Dale the Director/Writer of “Fight The Panda Syndicate” an independent film in which King Kong Bundy appears. I said that this movie would be at the top of my movies not to watch list for which Mr. Dale took exception. I did offer to review the final product and then give an honest Worm Review so we will see what happens…
–Rumors of the death of Gerald Brisco have been greatly exaggerated, he had a stroke but is alive and recovering.
–Friend of the Show Chyna is the subject of a Kayfabe Commentaries “YouShoot” and it looks to be one of the better DVDs in the series. The DVD will be available on November 1, 2011 and I would suggest grabbing a copy.
–Friend of the Show Nick “U-Gene” Dinsmore won the OVW Heavyweight Championship earlier this week for the ninth time so congrats to Nick!
–From the “for what it is worth” department, Perry Saturn signed a contract with AWE, who had the PPV a couple of weeks ago that was eviscerated by many critics, including myself. I received an email from the company explaining some of the things that went wrong including lamenting that superstar attitudes got in the way. With some of the egos that were in that dressing room I can understand and sympathize and I am willing to give the group the benefit of the doubt. We will see what happens from here on out especially with plans for TV in the near future and possibly another PPV down the line.
–From the “not really news” department, D.H. Smith, son of Davey Boy Smith, said he recently visited The Dynamite Kid in England and noted that the former British Bulldog was in rough shape physically. Dynamite has been pretty much broke and broken physically for a number of years. Smith is pushing for the British Bulldogs to get into the WWE Hall of Fame.
–Silliness from Eric Bischoff who said Buh-Buh Ray Dudley was one of the best ever to step in the ring. He is not even on the radar brother…
–The Young Bucks v. The Briscoe Brothers will be on the Glory by Honor X ROH show in Chicago on November 19 and that should be one helluva match.
–Mike Tenay signed a new contract with Impact Wrestling believed to be for two years which is a common contract offer for the group.
–APW wrestling tonight in Chester, South Carolina at the APW Arena and tomorrow night in Spartanburg.
–SWE wrestling in James City, North Carolina tonight at the Shockwave Power Station.
–UWC wrestling at the Pitt County Fairgrounds in Greenville, North Carolina tonight.
–C4W wrestling at the X Sports and Fitness center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Saturday night.
–CWF Mid-Atlantic at the Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium in Burlington, North Carolina Saturday night.
–Friend of the Show FMW wrestling will be in Waynesville, North Carolina at the National Guard Armory on Saturday.
–HVW wrestling at the HVW Arena in Hendersonville, North Carolina on Saturday.
–Friend of the Show Count Grog brings his G.O.U.G.E. wrestling to the MVP Sports Factory Gym in Wake Forest, North Carolina on Saturday with a heavyweight title match pitting Sean Alexander against Jimmy Jack Funk Jr.
–James Storm responded via Twitter to critics who said he was “too southern” to represent Impact Wrestling as their champion by saying, “I think it’s awesome that I’m to(o) ‘southern.’ I makes me…ME. So to the people who don’t like it…sorry about you damn luck. And a little FYI it’s not to(o) southern, it’s to(o) redneck and the are beer drinking rednecks all over THE WORLD not just the south.” I know it is Twitter but his spelling is straight out of the trailer…
–If Tyson Tomko does not have enough on his plate with the drug issue and the pending felony charges, he is also said to be on the verge of financial collapse.
–Pat O’Conner, former NWA World Champion will be inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame.
