From Bagels and Birds to Nature Play, the next two Saturdays at River Bend Nature Center are the place to be to enjoy fall colors and birds with those young ones in your family! The River Bend Nature Center is located in Faribault just off of Highway 60 on the east side of town. Once you follow the signs to the nature center, you will have an adventure with your little ones.
On Saturday morning, October 1, at 8:30 River Bend Nature Center will continue its monthly program Bagels and Birds. Join a naturalist in the comfort of the building at River Bend Nature Center to observe the birds and other visitors to Window on the Wild, the nature center’s backyard habitat feeding area. The naturalist will help with identification of the birds and others that come to the Window on the Wild as well as offer fun facts, binoculars, guide books, and conversation! Enjoy coffee and bagels in a relaxed atmosphere while watching the antics of wildlife at this free program. Thanks goes out to the Union Pacific Foundation for providing this program!
Preschool Nature Play is back again as well! On Saturday, October 8, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, join the naturalist as they talk about Tremendous Trees for the month of October. Participants will explore the forest to discover how trees are changing in the fall, what animals depend on trees and then they will get a chance to play in the leaves as well.
This event is designed as a come and go when it is convenient program. It will start at the interpretive center with stories about trees. From there, a light snack will be provided after which the group will then head out to explore the forest with a variety of fun activities designed for preschoolers. Upon return to the building several art projects will be available for participants to use their creative talents.
All preschool ages are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required. The cost is $10/child for members and $12/child for nonmembers. Because the program includes inside activities and outside exploration, participants should dress for the weather! After all, with fall here it is changing rapidly.
