Three day weekends are the perfect time to party. You have that extra time off work, the ability to sleep a little later and the desire to burn off all that pent-up work and/or school aggression.
This Labor Day weekend in Orlando is not without a few fabulous parties. Here are some of the best spots to spend your down-time.
UCF Season Opener: It’s a beautiful coincidence that the UCF season opener is not only at home, but also on Labor Day weekend! it also doesn’t hurt that the game is later in the day (7pm), giving you ample time to sleep in, pack the cooler and then tailgate the day away. Come out, shake the Brighthouse Stadium and support your Knights, as they kickoff their 33rd season with a home game against Charleston Southern.
CityWalk Labor Day Celebration: Universal will be set up for a party, with cabanas and all, this Sunday from 9pm-2am. For a $10 cover charge, guests can enjoy music from 10 DJs, $5 Grey Goose Vodka cocktails and Red Bull bombs and $4 Bacardi cocktails. Those looking to celebrate a Monday off of work in VIP style, can secure a cabana with the purchase of a bottle of Bacardi ($100) or Grey Goose ($140). This is guaranteed to be one HUGE party, so get here early and prepare to dance.
Wall Street Plaza’s Summer Splash: The end of summer inevitably means the end of pool parties, beach trips and summer cookouts (okay, maybe not technically in Florida) and for this reason Wall Street is ending the season with a giant Summer Splash party. Featuirng a giant inflatable pool (swim at your own risk), drink specials ($2.50 Bud Light, $3 Land Shark and $3.25 select cocktails),hours of entertainment and a VIP area ($95 for shade, bottles and beer) under the shade of the Globe’s patio, this is sure to be a can’t-miss party. Party-goers with proof of service industry employment get in for free, all other pay $5. The party starts at 1pm and ends at 2am.
World of Beer’s Customer Appreciation Cookout: It may not have a catchy Labor Day name, but that’s alright by us. World of Beer’s monthly customer appreciation day happens to fall on Labor Day weekend this month (9/4) and who are we to complain?! Starting at 3pm, patrons can enjoy free food with the purchase of one beer. Yes, we said ONE beer! It also doesn’t hurt that the WOB has a pelthora of TVs and an amazing beer list to choose from, making this a joyous Sunday/Labor Day Weekend combo. Once again, beer proves it is king.
Howl at the Moon Labor Day Luau Party: Sunday night is usually the night you prepare yourself for the torture that is Monday morning. However, this Sunday is a little different, and the torture may only come in the form of a headache from all the amazing drinks you had while wearing hula gear at Howl. Starting at 7pm, Howl at the Moon becomes your Labor Day headquarters for fun with drink specials( two-for-one mixed drinks, 86-ounce Sex on the Moon buckets for $27), limbo contests and, of course, all of the debauchery and entertainment that usually comes along with a night at Howl. Hula gear isn’t required but it is recommended.
With summer nearing an end, the hope that temperatures will be in the crisp 80s soon and the lack any of other holiday weekend until Thanksgiving, Labor Day is a treasure that must be celebrated. No matter how you spend it (in a pool with strangers in the middle of downtown, in a hula skirt or eating free food and drinking beer, just be sure to celebrate. After all, those who work hard, deserve to play hard.
