The aerospace and defense analysis firm Teal Group, headquartered in Fairfax, Va., will release their world aircraft market forecast later this month at The Aerospace Alliance Summit in Baytowne, Fla.
Teal Group is a team of experienced analysts and service professionals founded in 1988 to research and publish timely, accurate information on the aerospace and defense industry.
The company says the world aircraft market will grow from $125.8 billion this year to $191.3 billion in 2020.
“My presentation will look at the remarkable growth rates enjoyed by aviation markets over the last decade, and at the industry’s current status as a safe haven in a world of economic turmoil,” said Teal Group Vice President – Analysis Richard Aboulafia, who will be the prime analytical speaker Sept. 16 at the summit.
“I’ll look at risks to a civil or military downturn, and at upside opportunities too,” said Aboulafia. “Particular segments covered will include large jetliners, business aircraft, rotorcraft, combat aircraft, military transports and tankers, and broader defense spending trends.”
“In addition to growth trends in these segments, I’ll look at the particular players, strategies, and likely winners and losers,” added Aboulafia. “I’ll also discuss industry dynamics, and changes in global sourcing.”
Participants in the Florida summit include the chief state economic developer from Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi, the Florida Lt. Governor, and regional business leaders such as Boeing, ATK, Lockheed Martin, Airbus and GE Aviation.

Meanwhile, the International Association of Machinists and the Aerospace Industries Association sent a letter to President Obama on Thursday urging him to preserve the aerospace and defense industry and its high-skilled workforce.
“As you finalize proposals to save and create American jobs, we urge you to consider the vital role that our second to none aerospace and defense industry has played in America’s global leadership, and to keep in mind the many thousands of aerospace and defense workers that face the loss of their jobs in these difficult economic times,” the letter urged.
The enormous contribution of aerospace to our national bottom line—$214.5 billion in sales and a $51.2 billion trade surplus in 2010—cannot be taken for granted, the letter argued. “Doomsday” cuts to defense, the end of the Space Shuttle Program and delays to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Next Generation Air Transportation System all threaten America’s global leadership.”
