The North American Vegetarian Society wants you to know that October is World Vegetarian Month. And last Saturday, October 1 was World Vegetarian Day, which is the annual kick-off time of World Vegetarian Awareness Month. Make a difference this October by informing others about the benefits of vegetarianism. You will be helping to create a better world because vegetarian diets have proven health benefits, save animals’ lives and help to preserve the Earth.
Would you like to join the North American Vegetarian Society? Every October (Vegetarian Awareness Month) there are parties, potluck, presentations, food tasting displays…and lots of friendly discussions. For those new to vegetarianism, it serves as an enticement to give meatless fare a try (even for a day) and learn about its many benefits. And, of course, it’s the perfect occasion for vegetarians and those already moving towards plant-based diets to celebrate their healthy, compassionate food choices.
Vegetarian Awareness Month celebrations are as varied as the people who plan them. Whether you want to keep yours simple and private or public and grand — our ideas and resources can help.
In addition to individuals from all walks of life, past participants have included schools, colleges, health food stores, co-ops, restaurants, libraries, employers, healthcare centers and many others. It’s easy to get involved. Display our free, colorful, informative poster in your community. You can post it at a local store, office, coffee shop, library, school or other suitable location. Use it as a great way to start a discussion about the benefits of vegetarianism with the people in your life.
Enter the World Vegetarian Day contest and you could win free entry to the Vegetarian Summerfest conference. Find your own unique and creative way to promote vegetarianism in your community – and you could be a winner.
