There are two chances this weekend to use your yoga practice to help others. Friday, October 28th at Acenda Yoga in Lakewood from 6-7pm or Saturday, October 29th at the Gordan Square Farmer’s Market from 11am-noon. Both classes are donation based and will be led by local yoga teacher, Sarah Perkins.
The money raised will go towards Off the Mat Into the World’s Global Seva Challenge Haiti 2011. Off the Mat Into the World is an organization started by world renowned yogi, Seane Corn, Hala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling in 2007 to encourage yogis to create conscious and sustainable activism around the world. This years focus is on Haiti and these classes will donate 100% of the money raised towards the Global Seva Challenge Haiti 2011.
Sarah Perkins is a local yoga teacher in Cleveland that is embarking on the Global Seva Challenge Haiti 2011. Participants in this challenge are asked to raise $20,000 through local, grassroots fundraising processes. Once the funds are raised, participants travel abroad to work with the people in the area for which their funds were raised.
