When you are eight plus months pregnant, you feel like you’ve swollen to twice your size, your feet resemble a blown up latex glove and someone says, for the billionth time, “Your whole life changes once the baby is born,” it is completely normal to think evil things. It is extremely reasonable to wish that that person trip in public or suffer some minor injury that will leave them unable to speak at least until your child is born.
The truth is they are right. It’s obvious that you won’t get as much sleep, that you won’t physically look the same as you did pre-baby (in fact you may never lose those extra 10 baby pounds), and that your life will be forever altered by the amount of love you feel.
However, there are other things too. The way you drive, the way you speak, the way you look at other people, the way you judge other people, the way you watch the news… it is really endless. Even though you know you will love this little person growing inside of you so much, you will be shocked by just how much love your heart can hold.
So believe it or not, that annoying person is right. But next time you hear it just smile, know that they are in fact right, and wish that they stub their toe everyday this week!
