Since Pastor Zachery Tims’ death on August 12, speculation circulated around the cause of death. New York Medical Examiner’s office said toxicology results were expected to take three to four weeks. An autopsy performed was inconclusive.
A representative from New York’s Chief Medical Examiner’s office revealed to The Christian Post they are “very close” to the results of Tims’ toxicology tests.
The Director of Public Affairs at the New York Chief Medical Examiner’s office said more information would be available by Tuesday or Wednesday. (September 27-28, 2011)
Drugs were suspected after a white powdery substance, believed to be narcotics were found in his pocket. Investigators were looking into the possibility Tims might not have been alone in his hotel room. NYPD were reviewing surveillance video, phone, and hotel records on whether the pastor was in communications with anyone during his stay in New York City.
At 42, Zachery Tims was a man with a mission. His love for God spilled over onto the hearts of his congregation. A man with an inspiring message, living in the hope of Christ, his legacy lives on.
Pastor Tims struggled in life. He battled his demons and looked to his faith for strength. Tims was open about his problem with substance abuse. At the age of fourteen, he was convicted of attempted murder and incarcerated for two years in juvenile facilities.
At Tims’ funeral Bishop T.D. Jakes eulogized Tims. “I thought I was the only one who knew how unhappy Zach was, how broken he was, how afraid he was if anybody was to see any flaw in him. He tried hard to heal himself, to fix himself,” Jakes said at the late pastor’s funeral.
“Obedience is an act of your faith.” Tims once said. “When you stretch to meet the demand of the command, you will step into the miraculous outpouring of God’s limitless power. When you work the principle, it will work for you.”
Pastor Tims and his family founded Florida’s New Destiny Christian Center in 1996. Tims had a vision, a predestined life.
On August 12, 2011 Pastor Tims was pronounced dead. Mourners, friends, and family remain in shock over his death. Many questions still linger, toxicology reports still pending.
NDCC held a special tribute ceremony Sunday, September 18, 2011 to pay homage to the late Pastor Tims.
