Zoetic Stage Returns with Reading of New Play Mirror at the Top of the Stairs at Caldwell Theatre.
Miami: South Florida’s newest theatre company, Zoetic Stage returns to the cultural scene with a free reading of a brand new play Mirror at the Top of the Stairs written by national journalist and playwright Mack Edwards. Monday October 10 at 7:00 p.m. This free event will take place at Caldwell Theatre Company in Boca Raton.
Kicking off the 2011/12 cultural season, Zoetic Stage will premiere a new play to be read in its ongoing efforts to give South Florida playwrights a venue to rehearse, workshop and have their plays read publicly. Mirror at the Top of the Stairs is a complex and cathartic tale of letting go of the past and living in the now.
Mirror at the Top of the Stairs will be directed by Zoetic Stage company member Amy London and will feature some of South Florida’s finest actors including Antonio Amadeo, Amy Miller Brennan, Oscar Cheda, Patti Gardner, Edson Jean, Barry J. Tarallo and Kent Wilson.
Mack Edwards writings have taken many forms over the years. Investigative reporter, essayist, speechwriter, television screenwriter. Mirror at the Top of the Stairs is his first paly. Edwards says “Theater, where I intend to be for a long time, is the only stage on which I can share a life and, for the first time, literally see the impact my words, therefore my life, have had on people.”
Zoetic Stage recently announced its 2011/12 season at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami. Captiva, a world premiere play written by Christopher Demos-Brown, will kick have a full production in November. Artistic Director Stuart Meltzer says “It is a very exciting time for us at Zoetic Stage. With the reading of Mirror at the Top of the Stairs then going right into Captiva, we are feeling very creative and reaching audiences from Boca down to Miami.”
